  1. HyperLINK RUNTIME PACKAGE  --  README.TXT

  4. Welcome to what may well become the standard for data interchange on
  5. Atari STs in the future, HyperLINK.  This package, known as the
  6. HyperLINK Runtime Package and Demo (HL_RUN for short) is a fully
  7. working "run only" copy of the HyperLINK Application/Database program.
  8.  
  9. First, some legal stuff to get out of the way:

  11. HyperLINK and its associated files are Copyright (c) 1990-1992 by
  12. George Geczy and David Thompson.  All rights are reserved, but
  13. permission is hereby granted to distribute the HyperLINK Runtime
  14. program (HL_RUN.PRG) freely as long as the following conditions are
  15. met:
  16.         1) This text file (README.TXT), the image file INTRO.IMG, and
  17.         the program file HL_RUN.PRG must be included in any
  18.         distribution and must be UNMODIFIED.  Modification or removal
  19.         of any of these items voids the right to distribute this
  20.         product.
  21.         2) No commercial gain may be realized from the distribution
  22.         of this program itself.  Users Groups and dealers may charge
  23.         up to $5 a disk for duplication and media costs, but other
  24.         than this exception the program may not be resold.  If the
  25.         HyperLINK Runtime is to be included with a HyperLINK
  26.         application that is to be commercially sold, then written
  27.         permission must first be obtained from JMG Software for such
  28.         distribution.  As well, restrictions in item 1 must be met.
  29.         3) Distribution via BBS or Electronic Network is acceptable,
  30.         as long as both above conditions are met.

  34. What can HyperLINK Runtime do...
  35.  
  36. Simply put, this package can run any standard HyperLINK Application
  37. (called HAPs).  These are usually some form of database product, but
  38. can also be a hypertext or multi-media based application.  Once you
  39. are using an existing application, there are no restrictions to
  40. adding database entries, printing reports, and other "usage" duties.

  42. And it's a Demo too...

  44. Included with the HyperLINK Runtime Package are demo versions of the
  45. Application Builder and Report Generator modules.  These demonstrate
  46. the capabilities of HyperLINK to create new applications and reports
  47. using our exclusive graphics-based designer.

  49. How to use HyperLINK Runtime...
  50.  
  51. For the most part, we're leaving it up to individual application
  52. authors to give the "how to" descriptions of their creations.  To run
  53. an existing HyperLINK Application, all you have to do once HyperLINK
  54. is loaded is select the "Load App..." menu entry and using the item
  55. selector pick the application to run.  The HAP will load into the
  56. icon bar on the left side of the screen, and then you can simply
  57. click on its icon and the application will start up.

  59. How to build your own HyperLINK Applications...
  60.  
  61. The single most powerful feature of HyperLINK is that it easily
  62. allows you to create applications ranging from simple database files
  63. to complex database/text/graphics combinations.  All these features
  64. and more are built into the Full HyperLINK Package, which sells for
  65. $149 US and is available through most Atari retailers and also direct
  66. from JMG Software at the address below.
